You're an…

Espresso

Small, strong, and already three steps ahead.

Not you? Retake the quiz →

You don't do "maybe." You do "done." Like a perfect shot of espresso, you're small on fuss and huge on impact: the friend who books the table, picks the route, and somehow still arrives early. People love how clear you are. When you say something, you mean it, and when you start something, you finish it.

Your energy is contagious. Five minutes with you and people feel like they could run a marathon, or at least finally answer that email. You're not here to waste anyone's time, least of all your own, and that's exactly why everyone wants you on their team.

Just remember: even the strongest shot tastes better when you slow down and savor it. Every once in a while, let the plan wait.

How to make it at home

Stovetop Espresso

No machine? No problem. A moka pot makes a rich, bold, espresso-style coffee on any stove.

Makes
2 small shots

Ingredients

  • 0.5 oz (15 g) finely ground coffee
  • 5 fl oz (150 ml) hot water
  • Optional: a pinch of sugar

Steps

  1. Fill the bottom chamber of a moka pot with hot water, just below the valve.
  2. Add the ground coffee to the filter basket and level it gently with your finger. Do not press it down.
  3. Screw the pot together and place it on medium-low heat with the lid open.
  4. When the coffee starts to flow and turns golden and bubbly, take it off the heat.
  5. Pour into small cups right away and enjoy it hot.

Barista tip: Starting with hot water keeps the coffee from tasting bitter.

How to enjoy your Espresso

  1. Drink it right away. Espresso is at its best in the first minute or two, while the crema is still thick.
  2. Use a warm, small cup. Rinse a 2–3 oz cup with hot water first so the shot stays hot to the last sip.
  3. Add a side of water. A small glass of sparkling water cleans your palate before the first sip.

A medium-dark or dark "espresso roast".
